Dunbar M. Sloane

Managing Director / Oceanic Art

Dunbar has over 25 years of experience in valuing and appraising art for auction as well as for insurance purposes. Dunbar shares his time between Auckland and Wellington and has been involved in numerous institutional art valuations.

Anthony Gallagher

Auctioneer & Valuer / Antiques & Rare Book

Anthony left college at 17 and went directly into the auction industry in Scotland and has remained in the business ever since. Spending fifteen years with Thomas Love & Sons of Perth, at the time the largest provincial auction house in the United Kingdom and under the tutelage of the great Tom Reid. Anthony joined Dunbar Sloane in 2006 with particular expertise in antique furniture, silver, porcelain, rare books and manuscripts. His passion for the auction industry remains as strong now as it was 40 years ago. 

Bettina Frith

Auctioneer & Valuer / Jewellery & Militaria

Bettina has always had a passion for the auction business, having left school at the age of 18 to pursue a career with Dunbar Sloane. Working her way through the company as typist, clerk, accountant, and after an OE trip returned to Dunbar Sloane and with Dunbar Senior established well developed specialist antique and jewellery auctions with a side interest in toys and dolls. 

Joe Keate

Art Department

After working with the Wellington antiques and art dealer Peter Wedde for a number of years, Joe joined Dunbar Sloane to assist with cataloguing and valuing in the Art Department. His Bachelor of Arts degree in Greek and Linguistics formed the basis of his interest in both ancient, historical, and contemporary material cultures which he has since begun to apply to valuing New Zealand and International Fine and Applied Art.
